Q: How long are your lymphedema certification courses? A: 135 hours: 45 hours of online home study and 90 hours of classroom instructions (9-Days). See course descriptions. Q: Do I need to complete the certification training in one sitting? A: No, the course curriculum is divided into three sections, one 45 hour home study (HS) module and two 45 hour upper extremity (UE) and lower extremity (LE) sections. The completion of the HS module prior to the classroom portion is mandatory for all participants, however you may opt to become UE lymphedema certified in 4 ½ days or fully lymphedema certified in 9 days. Q: Is the Certification Training approved for CE credits? A: Yes, our courses are approved for Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Massage Therapy continuing education. Additionally, our Lymphedema Certification Course meets the eligibility criteria to sit for the National Lymphedema Certification (LANA) exam. Please visit our CEU approval page for more information. Q: Is Lymphedema Therapy reimbursed by Medicare and insurance companies. A: Yes, Physical Therapists and Occupational Therapists use standard CPT codes as appropriate for the services rendered. Q: Is Lymphedema Therapy reimbursed by Medicare and insurance companies for Nurses and Massage Therapists? A: Nurses and Massage Therapists are usually precluded from using CPT (billing) codes and reimbursement, however, some private insurance companies may make an exception.
