Head & Neck Lymphedema Management Course
  
Course Description:
This 1-day intensive workshop is designed to address the clinical management of patients with lymphedema of the head & neck following surgery and/or radiation therapy for cancer. The class will include a lecture on the sequelae related to cancer treatment followed by a thorough discussion of the role of appropriate therapeutic post-operative and post-radiation intervention. During the lab portion of the class, participants will be given an opportunity to review and practice specific Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) techniques for patients with lymphedema of the head & neck. Compression therapy and other rehabilitation considerations will be presented via lecture and video.

Course Objectives:
Participants will be able to: 
  • Identify surgical and radiation therapy effects that lead to secondary lymphedema of the head and neck
  • Understand the unique treatment challenges for patients with lymphedema of the head and neck
  • Apply specialized MLD and compression therapy to patients with lymphedema of the head and neck
  • Describe the importance of a multi-disciplinary approach in the diagnosis and management of patients with head and neck cancers and subsequent lymphedema

Class Times:
7.5 hours of instruction are provided in this Head & NeckLymphedema Management course. Usual class hours are: 8:00am-5:00pm. Exact class times will be provided in your confirmation letter.
 
Prerequisites:
This course is offered to all: PT, PTA, OT, COTA, ATC, RN, MT, NP, Speech Therapists, and MD.
 
Persons attending this Head & Neck Lymphedema Management course should be graduates of a lymphedema training program of at least 100 continuous hours. Unless you are a graduate of Klose Training, a copy of the Certificate of Completion of your initial lymphedema training course/program must be included with the registration form.
 
Tuition:
The total tuition for the course is $250.00 (includes course handouts). Full amount is due at registration. $100.00 is non-refundable; no refunds will be given in case of cancellation less than 3 weeks before class.

Continuing Education Credits (CEUs):
