Lymphedema Refresher & Practice Enhancement Course
 
Course Description:
This two-day Lymphedema Refresher & Practice Enhancement Course is available to healthcare professionals certified in the techniques of MLD/CDT. This course will review the techniques and sequences of MLD (Vodder technique) for practicing therapists. Curriculum includes an up-to-date review of the current literature (research), new treatments, diagnostic tools, and compression therapy applications related to lymphedema therapy. Evaluation and treatment approaches for patients with genital lymphedema will be reviewed as well. Participants are invited to submit questions related to their daily work with lymphedema patients as well as case studies of medically involved patients which will be presented to the instructor(s) and participants for discussion and problem solving.

Course Topics:
  • Review of MLD Techniques and sequences for lymphedema.
  • Presentation and problem solving of medically complex patients with lymphedema.
  • Review of treatment approaches for patients with genital lymphedema.
  • Review of current literature (reserach) for lymphedema and its treatment.
  • Introduction to new developments and applications for lymphedema therapy.
Course Objectives:
Participants will be able to: 
  • Utilize the techniques of MLD more efficiently and effectively.
  • Apply the knowledge gained from the comprehensive review of the current literature (research), new treatments, diagnostic tools and compression therapy applications related to lymphedema and its treatment.
  • More effectively evaluate and treat patients with genital lymphedema.
  • Gain a better understanding of the problem-solving strategies involved in treating patients with a complex medical history and lymphedema.

Class Times:
15 hours of instruction are provided in this two (2) day Lymphedema Refresher & Practice Enhancement Course. Usual class hours are: 8:00am-5:30pm and second day 8:00am-4:30pm. Exact class times will be provided in your confirmation letter.
 
Prerequisites:
This course is offered to all: PT, PTA, OT, COTA, ATC, RN, MT, NP, Speech Therapist, and MD.
 
Persons attending this Lymphedema Refresher & Practice Enhancement Course should be graduates of a lymphedema training program of at least 100 continuous hours. Unless you are a graduate of Klose Training & Consulting, a copy of the Certificate of Completion of your initial lymphedema training course/program must be included with the registration form.

Tuition:
The total tuition for the course is $395.00 (includes course handouts). Full amount is due at registration. $100.00 is non-refundable; no refunds will be given in case of cancellation less than 3 weeks before class.
