Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) and Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT) Training
The following directory has been created for the purposes of referral, increased access to Certified Lymphedema and MLD Therapists and for networking amongst healthcare professionals working with lymphedema. The directory lists therapists who have completed their training in Manual Lymph Drainage and Complete Decongestive Therapy (Lymphedema Therapy). Therapists listed here have demonstrated proficiency and competency in MLD and/or CDT after their training by participating in a written and practical examination.
What is the difference between a Certified Lymphedema Therapist and MLD therapist?
Certified Lymphedema Therapists are also trained in MLD and are qualified to provide comprehensive treatment for patients with lymphedema as well as make recommendations for compression therapy, exercise, risk reduction practices, etc. Therapists who are certified in MLD only, may be qualified to treat patients with medically uncomplicated lymphedema but are not trained in compression bandaging, exercise and other important components of Complete Decongestive Therapy.
